To Russia with love...
Hiley have secured a contract to design and supply a large scale cooling and packing conveyor system for biscuits and crackers to a Russian food producer. Working with world renowned Austrian firm Franz Haas and a number of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM's) the project has proven to be an exciting development for the company.
While the export market has always been a principle element in the firm's business strategy - notably in the North and South American markets - this is their first foray into Russia. Excited at the work to be undertaken, it did however, pose a number of interesting challenges - not least of which was the creation of a bespoke conveyor system that would seamlessly slot in to and integrate with the other OEM's products in the project.
Mark Hiley, the company's managing director, stated "All projects present unique challenges - most of which we solve through the application of tested technology and proven principles. However, there are invariably a number of elements that require innovative and inspired design work. Luckily, the wealth of experience in the company ensures that we are able to successfully rise to these challenges".
The work also involved Hiley securing GOST (Gosudarstvennyy standart ) certification as the CE (Conformite Europeenne) mark utilised throughout much of the EU is not recognised in Russia.
One of the most important elements in bringing it to fruition was ensuring that the five trucks containing the products designed and engineered by Hiley met up with the four trucks carrying equipment sourced from other OEM's - in order to do a synchronised Russian border crossing on one set of documents.
The system is currently being installed and is due to be commissioned in the coming weeks.
